Mdina

Mdina is a medieval, hilltop walled city situated in the middle of the island of Malta. This 'Silent City' used to be the old capital of Malta as it commands magnificent views of the island. Mdina is thought to have been first populated by the Phoenicians around 100BC.
Cars are strictly off limits in Mdina and only a limited number of resident and emergency vehicles are allowed within her walls. As you walk the narrow, winding streets admiring Palazzo Falson, Vilhena Palace and St Paul's Cathedral you are instantly transported to times past as you soak in the rich Norman and Baroque architecture that imbues Mdina with elegance, magic and charm.

this is so weird!! my dad lived on this road..i believe it was the 2nd door on the left! a tiny tiny house that had windows on both sides of the alley!
I love your posts, the mix between food, family, recipes and Malta. It's good for the soul.
This looks just beautiful. I read another Maltese blog - La Delirante, written by a transplanted El Salvadoran woman, but her slant is so different - from the expat point of view, and much of the discussion is heavily political. We have several close friends here in the states from Malta, so it's interesting to see the photos, get more of a sense of the beauty, etc.
I'm getting such an education following you blog. Beautiful food and history lessons about Malta. Thanks for all your good work. P.S. your comment function isn't very friendly. Every time I try to comment I get 'submission errors'.
Joan I have no idea why my comments box is treating you badly! An alternative way would be to login and become a 'registered commenter'. Once approved you are free to comments to your hearts content!
I have no idea what the name of the street is as I took so many photo's of Mdina. Your dad was very fortunate to have lived in Mdina as it's such a magical place!
Thanks bella for the lovely feedback I'm glad you're enjoying the mix!
Are you sure those Maltese friends of yours are not my relatives, as I have family in Michigan?!
