When I was three I was hardly me...

Becoming a mother has been the most demanding task I have put my hand to - period. Yet, it has also proven to be the most rewarding and life giving thing I have done to date.
Having children has been confronting as they tend to draw out the very best and worst of you all at once. There are some days when I wish we can get to 'the end' and be done with it. And then there are other days that I never want to let go of.

Today is one of those 'I never want to let go of days' because today my baby girl turns four. The last four years have been somewhat of a blur, but when I look at this amazing human being before me - she just takes my breath away.
She is strong, loud and brilliant. She has that 'dig your heels in' and 'clench your jaw' type of way about her. Yet, she is remarkably compassionate and empathic for one so young. She will probably achieve anything and everything she sets her heart and mind to.
But for the moment she is content with butterflies, cupcakes, fairies and tea parties. I'm just hoping we stay right *here* for the moment.

Thanks Nikki you gorgeous soul! L and I are both hanging out for you to drag out your sewing machine and dust it off, because I can't squeeze L. into your size 3 creations any longer :)
A very sweet non-foodie post. Beautiful photos. Beautiful mama and child.
Amazing children usually come from amazing parents, and hearing this lovely ode to your adorable daughter shows me that you are an amazing, wonderful mom! Congratulations and happy birthday to her!
Happy Birthday! She is beautiful.
What a lovely post. Happy birthday to her, and here's hoping you have many long afternoons, sunny days and chocolate-chip cookies to savor and make the next few years seem longer.

Shannalee thank you for your lovely words and wishes.
There are times in our lives when we can say to ourselves - we are doing an exceptionally good job! From looking at your stunning little girl (and no doubt your little man also) - it reflects the effort, time and energy you have put in to help shape and mould the personalities they already have. The fact that your daughter shows such incredible traits is definitely a testament to great parenting. Keep up the good work my friend. You both look completely stunning!!
Happy Birthday to her!! :)
Happy Birthday sweet one!
I LOVE her freckles ... she is too cute!!! What a beautiful mom for sharing this precious love.
Lovely memories to really treasure - I miss being that little! Not enough tea parties nowadays, this must be remedied!
Happy Birthday to her!
Happy Birthday to your little girl.
My little girl will be 3 in 2 months time and she is the loveliest thing in my life. A real sweetheart that can throw a diva tantrum lasting for hours at the same time. :) Like you said, our little darling brings out the greatest and the worst in us. I'm enjoying every moment spent with her for she is growing up too fast for me.
Happy Birthday to your sweet and pretty daughter!
Cheers,
Rosa
Happy Birthday to Miss Four! :) I love that second photograph of her. It looks like she is contemplating greatness!
Thanks Nicole for your lovely words of encouragement :)
Happy birthday (belated) to your baby girl! Motherhood really is amazing. I still marvel at the bond between mommies and our babies. I think that with each birthday that feeling of loving reflection will grow stronger. Happy thoughts to YOU on a beautiful four years as her mommy!
