When I was three I was hardly me...

Becoming a mother has been the most demanding task I have put my hand to - period. Yet, it has also proven to be the most rewarding and life giving thing I have done to date.

Having children has been confronting as they tend to draw out the very best and worst of you all at once. There are some days when I wish we can get to 'the end' and be done with it. And then there are other days that I never want to let go of.

Today is one of those 'I never want to let go of days' because today my baby girl turns four. The last four years have been somewhat of a blur, but when I look at this amazing human being before me - she just takes my breath away.

She is strong, loud and brilliant. She has that 'dig your heels in' and 'clench your jaw' type of way about her. Yet, she is remarkably compassionate and empathic for one so young.  She will probably achieve anything and everything she sets her heart and mind to.

But for the moment she is content with butterflies, cupcakes, fairies and tea parties. I'm just hoping we stay right *here* for the moment.
