Figolli - Decorating the almond filled pastry shapes
By on April 14, 2009 8:30 AM
Normally you would bake your Figolli and then decorate them the following day. Both Gillian and I decided beforehand that we were going to make a day of it and so we baked and decorated all day on Good Friday.

After the Figolli cooled and the adults had been restored by an afternoon siesta we set about mixing bowls of coloured icing. We lay the long table with the bowls of icing, chocolate eggs, sprinkles, cachous and edible glitter and let all six of them at it!
I
don't think I have ever had so much fun making Figolli. Upon reflection
I think the unanimous consensus is that come Good Friday next year we
will do it all over again - together.

... and now meet the amazing bakers!

How fabulous! Your baking group looks like the best kind.
I love these photos! They remind me of our cookies http://www.flickr.com/photos/55289437@N00/3145846847/in/datetaken/ - this is the first year they were not super gooey! It is fun!!
That picture of the kids in the aprons is awesome. I especially like the tall brunette!
Love the colours...so bright and uplifting!
Those bakers did an awesome job decorating those Figolli! Gorgeous! That's a party I'd love to come to!
Adorable!!

Nice to see figoli is still making its way through the "new generation" I have been making them with my mother since i was a child and then making them for my children. Now that my daughter is grown, its so nice that she wants to learn and pass it on to her future children. Thank you for uploading pics on your web-site. The ladies at Queen Baker are lovely and always have time for a chat with you
and reminise.
It so encouraging to hear people like yourself, wanting to pass on culinary traditions to their children and grandchild.
