The Perfect Poach

I love poached eggs but I am pretty crap at getting them perfect. So the other day I got myself a nifty little Poachpod and could not be happier. The Poachpod is a flexible silicone cooking gadget for poaching eggs. All you need to do is crack your eggs into the nonstick pods and then float them in a pot of boiling water like a 'lily pad on a pond'. When the eggs are cooked you then flip the pod inside out and voila - perfectly domed-shaped poached eggs every time!
The Poachpod is dishwasher and microwave safe, made from FDA food safe silicone, heat resistant to 357°C/675°F and flexible. The pods are reasonably priced and for just AUD$20 you get two cute pods, one dark green and one light green.

i love these things..ive been looking around for them for a while and finally saw them in bed bath and beyond yesterday..i havent bought them yet, but soon!!
I have listed them in my Amazon store under 'Kitchen Gadgets' and there are plenty available.
very cool i want one
These look like such a great idea. I love poached eggs, but I hate making them. Maybe this will change my mind.
They sure changed my mind - like I said perfectly poached eggs *every* time.
And here was me fiddling away with cups and cling wrap (don't ask) every time I wanted to poach an egg.......fiddle no longer I think!!!
Well isn't that the cutest little - and effective - gadget. I bet my silicone muffin cups would work the same way.
I've always been too scared of poaching. Something about stirring the water clockwise etc makes it all too confusing. Sounds like a good solution!
Clearly this 'fear' of poaching eggs is a universal thing!
We just received these as a gift not long ago. Love their video! They are quite nifty for clean looking poached egg. Most times we like our poached eggs rustic and free form, but clean and tidy is very desirable at times too.
I bought my elderly father one of these for Christmas - he loves it!!! great blog by the way.
Ah, I've always hated poaching eggs too. I normally just resort to having them at cafes! But I just got a poacher gimmick as a gift - one of those dual steel ones with a hook to hang over the edge of the pot. It may just revolutionise my morning brekkies!
I love poaced eggs! I poach them like everybody else & it seems that i succeed ! So, I am glad that this helps you!! So you can enjoy a superb poached egg!!!
A dear friend of mine (who is renowned for her culinary prowess) recently treated me to a home-cooked breakfast which brought together; wonderfully meaty wild field mushrooms with shaved Parmesan, wilted garlicy spinach, hot buttery crusty sour-dough toast and......umm "poached" eggs. Knowing how at ease she (normally) is in the kitchen, I thought nothing of her usual clattering on the 4 burners and grill until the air turned decidedly blue with cussing, the likes of which even God hasn't heard. As I sat expectantly at the breakfast bar, hoping the rant was nothing more than a slip in her usually perfect food presentation (she’s very unforgiving of herself despite being worthy of the front page of Vogue Entertaining), she Frisbeed my plate across the table in disgust, which stopped neatly under my raised knife and fork. As I looked down, I was met by what I can only describe as egg-carnage. Not scrambled, not poached something all together different. All the elements were there: the mushies, the spinach, the bread (a little soggy at the crusts perhaps) and the remains of what would have been the poached eggs. We sat in silence, pushing entrails of egg-white from one side of our plates to the other.
Disaster -If only we’d known about this heavenly little gadget sooner!
So are you going to get your dear friend a Poachpod?
