Adopt an Olive Tree

Like most other types of farming, olive growing in recent years is becoming more and more mechanised. Yet, in the foothills of the Italian Apennines there is a small scale artisan olive grove called - Nudo that make olive oil the traditional way with great care. Hence, Nudo want to continue to farm olives in this way and would love your involvement and participation by inviting you to 'adopt' one of their trees (yes I said adopt a tree)!

All you need is love and a little sense of adventure and you will soon be on your way to being the proud adoptive parent of your very own olive tree in Italy. Thus, once you have selected and adopted a tree the 'first thing you'll receive is an adoption certificate, to make you official, and your tree information booklet'. Over the course of the year you will receive two more packages (one in Spring and the other in Autumn) containing produce from your tree and about 50 of its neighbours.
Just imagine cooking with Italian olive oil from your own tree situated thousands of miles away on a picturesque hillside in Italy? Not only is the olive oil delicious, but you also get to brag to all your friends that this oil is from 'your' very own tree! Needless to say, that your involvement will help support small scale artisan farmers in Italy to continue to farm in a sustainable way.

The adoption process is quick and simple. The whole process can be done online in a matter of minutes and will set you back just £65.00. Once you have adopted your tree you are free to 'come and see it, water it, even hug it'. Just make sure to let Cathy and Jason know in advance if you plan to visit your tree. If you are unable to visit in person they are more than happy to give you regular updates as to how your tree is doing.

What a great cause!
A very worthy cause, indeed.
Such a fantastic idea. Love the packaging too - so kitsch.
It is a clever idea and a great cause. If you want a little more information Cathy and Jason from Nudo-Italia have written a book entitled The Dolce Vita Diaries detailing their life amongst the olive trees.
This is one good way to of making sure your ridiculously priced specialty store "Cold Pressed Mediterranean Olive Oil" isn't really Turkish hazelnut oil and Argentine sunflowers seed oil.....
Shocking isn't it?
Hi just found you through Michelle Fabio, who posted a link on face book.
Such a great idea, will certainly keep it in mind. I think my husband would love it for a pressie. I can buy the book on Amazon.co.uk..when it becomes available..I can pre-order, I think it will be a great read!
Very nifty idea. Love this.
Actually, that's a pretty good price too!
Good point Anna!
I think this is a great idea, but have seen similar to this at other websites which offer as good but cheaper. Whatever you choose it's a great idea for improving the local environment.
