Basic Primal Need

I don't know about you but I can't face the world, breakfast, school lunch boxes, my bulging inbox, Twitter, Facebook or my children for that matter before my morning coffee. Call it ritual, habit, addiction or basic primal need - my brain just does not work before coffee.
Some people find that they can't function before their early morning yoga session, ten minute shower or five mile run around the river. Hence, for me it's all about the coffee. That first morning caffé latte is both life giving and vital, for it is like an internal shower that flushes away all of life's impurities and some how magically assists in aligning the planets! Everything just 'sounds better, looks brighter and tastes better'... after that first coffee.

Now when I say 'coffee' I am not talking about any old coffee I am talking about Genovese coffee which is made right here in Melbourne. Over the years Genovese has endeavored to 'provide the Australian market with a true Italian espresso coffee experience'. And so the company prides itself in being a 'third generation family owned company' and is passionate about the traditions that have been handed down to them. Their 'product is roasted and blended using artisan techniques and state of the art equipment, and as such the Genovese Espresso Coffee experience is second to none'.
I have tried many brands of coffee over the years and have drunk coffee in four of the seven major continents. I have also been fortunate enough to have experienced having my caffeine needs fulfilled at the coffee Mecca itself - Roma! Although it was quite a buzz to stand in a bar in the heart of Rome, surrounded by stylish Romans drinking their morning cappuccino or afternoon espresso I was sadly underwhelmed by the coffee itself. Don't get me wrong - Rome was, is and ever will be breathtaking and without flaw, but when it comes to coffee - Genovese to me is - 'the world's greatest coffee'.

Well that's my humble opinion with regard to coffee - the comments box is all yours! Oh and thank you Enzo for doing the coffee justice.

I'm a mocha person myself--plain iced in the summer and peppermint hot in the winter. And I am devastated to admit that my digestive system cannot tolerate coffee (I have NO idea why) before lunch.
So I suffer through being blurry eyed and settle for a sugar rush. :) The mocha picks me up in the afternoon....
I'm such a creature of habit really - make mine a 'weak latte with chocolate on top'! Pathetic I know and hardly worth rating it as a coffee, but since having kids and having to tolerate the weaker style coffees (couldn't get into the decafs - but then not a bad thing!), I can't do the whole full bodied coffee......love the smell though. Agree re Genovese though - luckily a cafe supplies locally! And whoever argues that the 'weak latte with chocolate on top' is the same as a weak cappucino - definitely not in my books!!
Mmmm if I wasn't already drinking coffee while reading, I'd definitely be making some now. I have a favorite espresso brand (the locally made Guglielmo), but truth be told, I most often enjoy it in cappuccino. Fabulous photos :)
Looove a good espresso coffee. I won't drink any other kind!
I can smell the coffee from here. Have you tried Kona coffee?
I love that way to serve the latte (for me, it's an essential at the down of 3pm), in a glass instead of a bowl, which i'm used to. I'll start, in some months, my own boulangerie-cafe and i'll keep this idea for sure. Thanks!
Hey, Ms Gourmet pleased to meet you and thanks for the link. I've been snooping around your super blog for a while and it's clear we'll get on famously!
Like you, I need a cup of 'good' coffee to really get going, although I put it off until after the school run so I can drink it in peace!. The local bar here makes really good caffe in all its various guises. They use Lavazza which has mellow, creamy taste. I'm addicted to the cappuccino, known locally as 'cappucce'. If you want your caffe in a glass (and a lot of people do) you order it 'in vetro'.
You have a great 'eye' for detail and I love all your images. These coffee photographs are great.

I know exactly what you mean. I used to be a tea drinker, but within the last couple of months I find myself drinking more and more coffee. Now, I absolutely need it every morning. By the way, I just love your blog! Very lovely writing and the pictures are great!
